Kochi: The All Kerala Chemists and Druggists Association (AKCDA) Ernakulam district committee on Thursday decided to withdraw the strike announced on Wednesday by stopping sale of cough syrups, pain killers and psychiatric medicines from Thursday. This was in protest against the raids which they said was being conducted by the Excise Department officials using the powers which they actually don’t possess.
The raids were part of the drive to unearth narcotic substances. The association state-level leaders held talks with excise minister and health minister in the state capital. The district leaders said that the excise minister assured that such raids will not continue, following which the decision to withdraw the strike was taken.
