Thiruvananthapuram tops in CBSE exams
Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram region comprising the whole of the state and Lakshadweep, with 95.62 percent registered the highest pass percentage in the CBSE class XII examinations, results for which were announced on Sunday. Last year also the region had stood first of all regions of the country with 99.87 per cent. Of the total of 34,949 students who wrote the examinations, 33,334 students passed the examinations from the Thiruvananthapuram region.
Chennai region came in second with 92.60 percent, followed by Delhi with 88.37 percent. Ajay R Raj of St Thomas Central School, Mukkolakkal, Trivandrum bagged the national first rank in the differently able category while Lakshmy P V of Lions School, Palakkad, bagged the second rank in the differently able category. The much-awaited results were delayed due to confusion over the moderation policy. Apart from class CBSE class XII examinations, class X examinations were also delayed.
As a result, the Kerala high court on Friday ordered that admission to plus one courses be extended by three clear working days from the date of announcement of CBSE Class X results so as to enable students to apply. The Board announced the class XII results of all its 10 regions simultaneously. The results included five-point moderation, ordered to be continued by the Delhi High Court. The court had quashed the Board’s decision to do away with the moderation or grace marks policy, saying students who appeared for the exams in March did so with the knowledge that grace marks would continue.
