Munnar mission is sabotaged: V M Sudheeran
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran has alleged sabotage of decisions taken at the all-party meet on Munnar encroachments on May 7. In a Facebook post, demanding eviction of all encroachers, he said contrary to the promises made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the meeting, what was being seen is that the decisions are being sabotaged. The CM in his letter to revenue, law and forest ministers had promised that those big encroachers would be evicted and 5.5 lakh acres would be retrieved.
"Another grievance was that the Government's ineptitude in handling the case in High Court against AVT. The tea company was allowed to axe trees from the Government owned land with the help of the High Court order," he said. He also alleged that this move had left the Government with huge losses running into several crores. The Government's special pleader, Susheela Bhatt, was exempted from appearing before the court which actually "played spoilsport". Another serious allegation is that more than 50 encroachers have been avoided from the list prepared by the revenue department. He demanded all encroachers slapped with cases under land protection.
