Kerala to order judicial probe on Vizhinjam

The CAG had pointed out that the deal would cost the state dear on account of the favours it granted the concessionaire Adani Vizhinjam Port.

ALAPPUZHA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday said a judicial commission headed by a High Court judge would look into the allegations of corruption based on the Comptroller and Audit-or General (CAG) report on Vizhinjam Port deal. Addressing a CPM gathering at Punnapra near here, he said the findings were serious, and the state was duty bound to clear concerns they raised. “The previous government put the liability of the project on the present government,” he said.

The CAG had pointed out that the deal would cost the state dear on account of the favours it granted the concessionaire Adani Vizhinjam Port. Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) Santosh Kumar Mahapatra said that he did not want to comment on the present controversies related to the government decision. “The project was on the right track, and it would go on as per schedule,” he told this newspaper. “We have nothing else to say.”
