Dr Subramanian Swamy sees bright spot in Ram Mandir

He stated that the Muslim community in Ayodhya was not offering any namaz at the Babri mosque or 16 others that exist in the town.

HYDERABAD: BJP senior leader Dr Subramanian Swamy said on Sunday that he was confident that a significant breakthrough would occur in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue in 2018. He said that the NDA would achieve majority in Rajya Sabha by April next year, after which there would be no obstructions to any Bill moved by the government. “Even if we get a favourable judgement in court, the Congress is hell bent on negating it in the Rajya Sabha. The situation will change from April 2018,” said Dr Swamy, while delivering a talk, ‘Building Ram Mandir in Ayodhya through legal framework’ organised by the Virat Hindustan Sangam here in the city on Sunday.

He said that a case pertaining to the lack of facilities at a small temple existing in the land in Ayodhya will come for hearing in Supreme Court in July and he was hopeful of the court protecting the rights provided by the Constitution. Dr Swamy stated the case for the temple was strong as archaeologists, who had conducted a survey after court orders, had reported that they found historic facts of existence of a temple on which a mosque was built during the rule of the Mughal emperor Babur. He stated that the Muslim community in Ayodhya was not offering any namaz at the Babri mosque or 16 others that exist in the town.

“We are willing to construct a mosque at an alternative location, which is close to their inhabitations,” he said. Dr Swamy said he had proposed a Krishna package to MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi to return land in Ayodhya, Varanasi and Mathura for construction of temples or else “they would have to take a look into the issue of 40,000 mosques that were constructed demolishing temples during the period of Muslim rule”. Dr Swamy was highly critical of Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism in Kashmir valley where 5 lakh Kashmiri Pandits had been subjected to humiliation and injustice in their own land.

He said that India should not worry about waging a war against Pakistan, as it will break into four parts because people of those places were for freedom from Pakistan for long. Swami Paripoornananda said Ram temple issue should be resolved by the Supreme Court. He said that SC's observation to settle the matter outside court was not desirable. He said that 2019 elections in Hyderabad would be a two-way fight between Hindu forces and anti-Hindu forces.
