Save farmers from rain havoc losses, Etala tells govt

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao seems least bothered about the farmers, who are facing a lot of problems as their food grains have been submerged in flood waters at various procurement centres that have been opened without taking appropriate measures, alleged BJP legislator Etala Rajendar. Speaking to press persons in Huzurabad on Saturday, he said that with only mills around, it is taking four to five days for unloading food grains from vehicles. Till date, only 20 percent of the produce has reached mills, he said, elaborating on the time-consuming factors.

In their misery, farmers are selling their produce to private persons at a meager'1,300 per quintal.

Ministers and BRS leaders have no time to console the aggrieved farmers but spend a whole lot of time partying, Rajendar said. The ruling party leaders are treating newspapers which are highlighting various issues pertaining to the people as trash. They should actually be responding to such reports and help bring solace to the people of the state, he said.

There is no possibility of sand accumulation underneath the check dam after it comes up over Manair River as BRS leaders are hand in glove with the sand mafia, he said.

The state government must purchase food grains that are soaked in flood waters and help farmers, who are in dire straits, the BJP leader said.
