Kochi: The special investigation team brought all the seven accused of brutally assaulting three young men on a Kallada Travels bus for evidence collection here on Sunday after getting their custody.

They were individually taken to the spot near the Vyttila office of the bus operator, collected evidence and recorded their statements.

Thrikkakara assistant commissioner Stewart Keeler said all those identified from the mobile phone and CCTV visuals are in custody.

"The evidence collection is part of the primary round of investigation. The remaining accused, if any, will be traced and arrested in the coming days. More details cannot be divulged as the investigation is underway," he said.

He also confirmed that police had not given a clean chit to its owner Suresh Kallada. The cops had recorded his statement after summoning to the Assistant Commissioner Office, Thrikkakara.

Meanwhile, sources said that the probe team had received pieces of evidence against five more involved in the April 21 incident.

The passengers - Ajayaghosh, Sachin and Ashkar - of the Bangalore-bound inter-state bus from Thiruvananthapuram were beaten up for allegedly questioning the delay in arranging an alternate vehicle after it broke down near Karuvatta, Haripad.

When the bus reached Vyttila in Ernakulam early morning, the bus employees from its unit here barged in and started beating them up. The whole incident came to light after another passenger recorded it and shared on social media.
