Kerala: May first week to shower relief
Kochi: Kerala is expected to receive a few thundershowers during the first week of May providing some relief from the sweltering heat. According to meteorological scientists in the state, after May 5, fairly widespread thundershowers are likely at most places (~5 mm/day).
“This rainfall could be as a result of the conducive cyclonic circulation expected over the Male region and south-west of Kanyakumari in neighbouring Tamil Nadu. The much anticipated pre-monsoon shower could result in a temperature drop by about 2-3 degrees celsius,” said Dr M.G. Manoj, research scientist at Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research–ACARR, Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat). Meanwhile, certain parts of Kottayam received showers on Thursday evening.
