Bengaluru: Cops open fire to nab criminal
Bengaluru: The police had to open fire to overpower a murder accused after he tried to resist arrest and attack the police in Nandini Layout police station limits early Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Muniraju, 25, a resident of Laggere. He is the prime suspect in an attempt to murder one Santosh and his friends on Tuesday.
Police said a special team, headed by Inspector Lohith, was formed to arrest Muniraju, after they received credible information that he and his accomplice were seen near Buddha Nagar.
The police team surrounded the place and told Muniraju to surrender. But Muniraju tried to attack police constable with a dagger and a knife. The police had to open fire to arrest Muniraju and his accomplices.
Police source suspect that Muniraju and his accomplices are involved in many other cases. Muniraju has many cases registered against him in various police stations.
