Centre allots 17 IAS officers to Telangana
Hyderabad: As requested by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to resolve the shortage of IAS officers, the Centre has allotted 17 IAS officers to the state. Together with 10 TS officers who were conferred IAS status recently, the government will get 27 new IAS officers.
IAS status for three other officers have been kept pending due to cases in the Central Administrative Tribunal, Hyderabad.
After state bifurcation, the Centre had allotted the state 163 IAS officers while the active strength was 134. The reorganisation of districts intensified the shortage of IAS officers, and Mr Rao has requested the Centre to increase strength to 193.
An official with the General Administration Department said the 17 newly allotted IAS officers will complete training in two months and report to duty. Eight IAS officers posts and two of promotee cadre which are vacant are expected to filled soon.
This will take the strength of IAS officers to 174, which sources said, was sufficient.
