AIYF blames A A Rahim of thwarting action on Kerala Law Academy
Thiruvananthapuram: Differences between the CPM and the CPI came out in the open on Saturday with AIYF state secretary Mahesh Kakkattil accusing CPM leader and syndicate member A. A. Rahim of sabotaging action against the Kerala Law Academy Law College in the subcommittee. Mr Kakkattil told reporters that the affiliation subcommittee which had come across strong evidence against its principal Lakshmy Nair did not recommend specific actions against her following his intervention.
Meanwhile, the statement made by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that the strike at Law Academy was a students' strike and the media should not politicise it had also come under attack from various quarters. After visiting the SFI protesters, he said that there was an attempt to convert the strike into a land controversy. "Attempts were to turn it against the government. The CPM will not fall into the trap laid by the BJP for this." Both the KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran and BJP former state president V. Muraleedharan had come out against the statement saying it was also a student agitation.
