Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday directed officials to ensure integrated development of Nizamabad city, stating there was no dearth of funds for visible development in the third largest city in the state.
“I will visit Nizamabad after two months to see the developmental works,” he told officials at a review meeting of the Nizamabad civic body at Pragathi Bhavan.
Ministers K.T. Rama Rao and V. Prashanth Reddy, MLAs Bigala Ganesh Gupta and A. Jeevan Reddy, and MLCs Kalvakuntla Kavitha, P. Venkatram Reddy and P. Koushik Reddy took part in the meeting.
In response, minister Rama Rao elaborated on the municipal developmental works, while Prashanth Reddy discussed a proposal for Indur Kala Bharati Auditorium. Kavitha, meanwhile, asked for a new bus stand and Haj House in Nizamabad.
Chandrashekar Rao directed the municipal, roads and buildings, panchayat raj and other departments concerned to coordinate the developmental works.
He suggested that officials visit Khammam to get ideas for developmental works and called for the construction of a modern auditorium, outdoor stadium and a garden in Nizamabad.
Listing the works to be done, Chandrashekar Rao said that crematoria, burial grounds and integrated vegetable and non-vegetable markets must be constructed, while the existing dhobi ghats and salons should be converted into modern facilities.
Buildings currently occupied by government departments should be used to address public needs, once they shift to the integrated collectorate complex.
“In view of fast development in Telangana state, people are expecting quality services from the government. Officials should work with coordination and commitment,” he said.
The CM said that government hospitals will also get a facelift to reinforce public faith in the government, as Telangana workers returned home during Covid-19 lockdowns and 30 lakh people from other states are working here.
Stating that irregular rainfall affected the civil works of the government, he directed officials to prepare alternative plans to minimise hindrances.
Special chief secretary Arvind Kumar of the MA&UD department, director N. Satyanarayana, Nizamabad district collector C. Narayana Reddy, municipal commissioner Chitra Mishra, and additional collector Chandrasekhar were present.
