BSP leaders call on MMD oustee who attempted suicide
Karimnagar: BSP Rajya Sabha member Ramji Goutham and party’s state coordinator R.S. Praveen Kumar on Monday called on Anumanala Rajaiah, an oustee of Mid-Manair Dam (MMD) and resident of Nilojipally village in Boinapally mandal, who had attempted suicide and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Rajaiah consumed pesticide two days ago as the state government had not given him compensation of Rs 9.24 lakh for losing his house and fields under MMD. Rajaiah’s family members immediately admitted him to a hospital, where he is recuperating.
After inquiring about the health of Rajaiah, Praveen Kumar told media that people of Bahujan communities and farmers are committing suicide as the state government is not coming to their rescue. He pointed out that though the government has handed over compensation to those connected to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s family, the same is not being given to other people displaced by the dam.
Praveen Kumar pointed out that from 2016 onwards, Rajaiah has been going around offices seeking compensation. He demanded that the state government release compensation to all oustees of MMD immediately. Otherwise, BSP, along with oustees of MMD, will intensify their agitation and teach a fitting lesson to the government, he warned.
BSP state president Manda Prabhakar, state vice presidents Dayanand Rao and Chandrasekhar, district president Nishani Ramachandram, district in-charge M. Ashok and party leaders B. Kantha, N. Rajendar, Anil Kumar, M. Thirupati and Md. Sameer were among those present.
