Cauvery row: Uma Bharti to hold meeting of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka CMs tomorrow

Chennai: Union water resources minister Uma Bharti on Thursday will hold a meeting of Chief Ministers or water resources minister of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to discuss the Cauvery issue, as directed by the Supreme Court.
In a letter written to Chief Secretaries of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka late on Tuesday night, hours after the Supreme Court asked the competent authority of the Union Government to convene a meeting, Union water resources secretary Shashi Shekhar said Ms Bharti would chair the meeting at 11.30 am on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, TN CM J. Jayalalithaa nominated state PWD Minister Edappadi S. Palanisamy to represent the state in the meeting, to be held in the next two days.
