THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF called for a hartal in Thiruvananthapuram district on Wednesday to protest police brutality against agitating Youth Congress and KSU workers. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the hartal will be held between 6 am to 6 pm and added that milk, medical stores, hospital, media and exams were exempted.
The Opposition leader sought support for the hartal “against police repression” unleashed by the LDF government on the peaceful agitation of KSU and Youth Congress against the chaos in self financing medical and dental sector. The police action cannot be justified in any way. Chennithala said the government’s devious plan to spill the blood of students and youth on the streets of the state would be fought strongly and democratically. He said protest action will be held in other districts.
