Kadam project: 2 Flood Gates Lifted Manually

ADILABAD: With the sluice gates of the Kadam project stuck, locals volunteered and manually opened two gates, numbers 6 and 16, on Thursday to release water and avert the danger of flooding to nearby areas.

According to officials, 16 of the 18 gates were opened but two were stuck due to motor malfunction.

Opening the two gates was crucial as it helped discharge 50,000 cusecs of water, in addition to the 2.42 lakh cusecs being released, as there was an inflow of 3.482 lakh cusecs.
