GHMC pays Rs 6,250 fine on chief’s car
Hyderabad: In an embarrassment to GHMC commissioner M. Dana Kishore, a white Fortuner which was registered under the name of ‘Com-missioner of Gre-ater Hyderabad Mu-nicipal Corporation’ was found to be having pending cha-llans worth `6,210.
After the issue found its way into social media, the senior IAS officer’s office cleared the pending challan. Most of the violations involving the SUV included speeding and dangerous driving.
According to the traffic e-challan website, the vehicle (TS09 FA 4248) had six pending challans since August 2018. The penalty for speeding is Rs 1,035 including ser-vice charge.
e-challans were issued on the vehicle by the Rajendra-nagar, Vanasthali-puram, Shamsha-bad, and Gachibo-wli traffic police stations in Cyber-abad and Rachakon-da commissionerates. “This meant that the driver violated traffic rules at different places. Obviously the GHMC commissioner was not behind the wheel,” a senior police official said.
A netizen, @Mohitlimbani, took to Twitter and said challans were pending against the vehicle. Putting out the penalty details he said “Speed Thrills But Kills” and said the police should conduct an campaign awareness for the GHMC commissioner.
After this was widely discussed in the internet, the GHMC released a statement that it had cleared the challans.
Mr Kishore warned the drivers not to violate traffic rules again. Mr Kishore was not available for comment.
