Hyderabad: RTC staffer's body found
Hyderabad: The body of a 56-year-old RTC employee who was working as depot manager (DM) in Narayankhed was found on the outskirts of the town on Tuesday. Police said that Mahender could have committed suicide by consuming poison.
Mahender was transferred to Narayankhed depot recently on promotion. Transport minister P. Mahender Reddy ordered an inquiry into the DM’s suicide.
Katta Mahender, hailing from Karimnagar district, was working as a supervisor in Karimnagar RTC depot. Around 40 days ago he was shifted to Narayankhed on promotion as depot manager. He was staying in a rented house, while his family was in Karimnagar.
On Sunday, he took permission and went home on leave for two days. But he returned on Monday afternoon and came to the depot in the evening. Before leaving, he handed over his official mobile phone to the traffic inspector.
After that he wrote the contact numbers of his sons and gave it to his car driver, and asked him to call them in case of any emergency.
The driver dropped him home and went back. On Tuesday morning, walkers found him lying near the walking track and alerted police. Police identified him using his identity card and informed RTC officials.
Police said that he could have committed suicide by consuming poison. “His family has no suspicion. He did not leave any suicide note. We are checking details,” Narayankhed SI Narender said.
Based on a complaint from his elder son, Kaushik, a suspicious death was registered. Meanwhile, his younger son Karthik said that after going to Narayankhed his father had complained of increasing work. “He called me on Monday night. He used to call me every day after reaching his room,” Karthik said.
