Hyderabad: IIT women topper aims at IAS
Hyderabad: Ryali Gayathri brought laurels to Telangana by securing all-India first rank in the women’s category in JEE Mains.
Gayathri had got 10 out of 10 GPA in SSC and 98.7 per cent in Intermediate. She was also awarded the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) scholarship and had received a gold medal in a Chemistry Olympiad organised by TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research).
Gayathri’s success is all the more special since she happens to be the first from her family to join an IIT, said her father Mr R. Mallikarjuna Rao.
In JEE (Advanced) Gayathri had got 260 rank. She is planning to join CSE in IIT (Kharagpur) or IIT (Madras); if not, she will settle for the Electrical branch at IIT (Madras). Her ultimate aim, however, is to crack the UPSC exam and become an IAS officer. Meanwhile, T. Sai Teja has the distinction of securing a top-10 rank in every entrance test he has written this summer. He came first in TS-Eamcet, seventh in AP-Eamcet, all-India fifth in JEE (Advanced) and sixth in JEE Mains.
Fighting all odds, Dheeraj Sagar from Wanaparthy secured 631 rank in the OBC category. His father is a mason with a meagre income. Dheeraj said that he would like to join ECE course in NIT (Warangal). His sister is pursuing M.Sc. (Physics) from OU.
