Kadapa: One of the less reported aspect of the current flight resumption is that many of the passengers are unaware that they have to go for mandatory quarantine for seven days.

Sai Teja, a software engineer in Chennai, came to Kadapa by a Trujet flight on Wednesday and was surprised when she was made to undergo a COVID test and sent to quarantine for seven days.

Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, she said she had booked her ticket from a website, which had not mentioned anything about quarantine for seven days.

Another software engineer, Sirigappagari Sivasankar Reddy from Putlur in Ananthapur district had a similar experience. He along with his spouse and one year kid were taken aback when told to go into quarantine.

However, another software engineer from Dharmavaram of Ananthapuram district, also quarantined for one week, expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided to them at the quarantine centre.

When the Trujet flight from Chennai to Kadapa landed with 24 passengers on Wednesday morning, the Kadapa subdivisional police officer Uppara Suryanarayana was there at the airport with a medical team.

The doctors briskly took throat swab samples from all the disembarking passengers and sent them to the laboratory.

The district administration arranged a special bus and sent the passengers to the Bharathi Engineering College for one week's quarantine. Their test results were expected on Thursday morning.

DSP Suryanarayana said that anybody who tests positive will be sent to the district covid hospital for treatment. Negative passengers will have to undergo one week of quarantine and can complete the rest of their 14-day quarantine at home, he said.
