KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the first IT building built by the government in Malabar region at the Government Cyber Park here on Monday. State IT Park chief executive officer Hrishikesh Nair told reporters here on Saturday, “our aim is to make the city the next IT sector in the state like Thiruvananthapuram Technopark and Kochi Infopark. Our first priority is to make the 2,88,000 square feet building named ‘Sahya’ fully occupied. We will reserve 6,000 square feet space for the startup companies in the second phase. By installing world class infrastructure, including rain water harvesting, solar roof panels, 100 percent power back-up and high speed Wifi connectivity, we hope to attract IT companies to the park. A lot of inquiries have already come from the country and the Gulf states,” he added.
The new building provides facility to employ 2,500 IT professionals. The basement area is meant for parking. On the first floor, six units with 25-75 seating facility have been made operative. Aufait Technologies which works at the administrative block has already shifted to the new building. Companies like Vinam IT and Mini Mailster have booked their space in the new building. The second floor is arranged as a Smart Business Centre with 19 units having 12-42 seating facility. The remaining three floors will be provided with basic facilities for the companies’ preferred alteration. The road, rail and air connectivity with industrial and commercial centres, including Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi and Mangalore, will help the city to set a good platform in the IT sector. With Kannur airport works about to be completed, Malabar is expected to become one of the best IT centres in the country.
