Decipher ancient knowledge for human welfare, Governor tells Vedic students
TIRUPATI: AP Governor S. Abdul Nazeer underlined that Vedas are rich in ancient knowledge, which must be deciphered by Vedic scholars and students for well-being of humanity.
In his capacity as chancellor of the TTD-run Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU), Abdul Nazeer attended its Seventh Convocation at the Mahati Auditorium in Tirupati on Friday.
The Governor underlined that Vedas are results of the first human intellectual endeavours and Sanskrit served as the channel for transmitting this knowledge from one generation to the next.
“Vedas are vast knowledge repositories passed on by our forefathers. We must pass on this wisdom to future generations by creating a synergy between the old Indian tradition and modern science and technology," he underlined.
Abdul Nazeer complimented SVVU for combining traditional wisdom with modern science, which caters to the present-day needs. "I have been informed that over 3,000 manuscripts have been digitised by the university so far. I wish SVVU reaches greater heights in its endeavour of spreading the vast knowledge for the benefit of not only the society but the country as well as the world," he remarked.
Describing Vedic scholars and students as torch bearers of Hindu Sanatana Dharma, TTD executive officer A.V. Dharma Reddy advised them to strive hard with dedication for generations to come. "Explore, research and unearth hidden knowledge in Vedas and sacred texts for the welfare of entire humanity," he underlined.
SVVU vice chancellor Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murty said revival of Adrashan Veda Gurukulam and new certificate courses like Adhindriya Vijnanam and Pauranika Sikshana are on cards. These will enable people to understand and appreciate the richness of our ancient texts.
The VC said to strengthen Veda Vidya, all Vedic schools, including Veda Vignana Peetham of TTD, have been brought under the umbrella of SVVU. Besides, 140 Veda Patashalas across the country are being given financial support, he stated.
Earlier, the chancellor conferred Maha Mahopadhyaya titles on Brahmasri Subrahmanya Shastri Salakshana Ghanapati and Brahmasri Mani Dravida Shastry and conferred Vachaspathi on Brahmasri Ramasomayaji Shastry and Brahmasri Vamsi Krishna Ghanapati. 550 students received their graduate and post-graduate certificates.
TTD JEO Sada Bhargavi was present.
