CM cancels journey to Delhi

Stalin is scheduled to meet the President in New Delhi on Friday and so he booked the schedule flight

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin’s journey to Delhi by an Air India flight at 8.30 pm was cancelled after the aircraft developed a technical snag that the airlines took a long time to rectify, leaving 154 passengers waiting for it on Thursday night.

Since the Chief Minister is scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Friday at 11 am, he had booked the scheduled flight and arrived at the airport after 8 pm, which was well ahead of time.

But the aircraft developed a snag and the flight was delayed. When it was announced initially that the aircraft would be ready for takeoff by 10.30 pm, Stalin waited at the lounge. But after the authorities announced that the flight had been inordinately delayed, he left for home.

He is now expected to catch one of the early morning flights to New Delhi and keep his appointment with the President to invite her to the inauguration of the multi-speciality hospital that has been built at the King’s Institute in Guindy.
