Kerala finds no choice over T P Senkumar
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Putting further pressure on the government to reinstate T.P. Senkumar as the state police chief, the law department has suggested that there was no option other than executing the Supreme Court order in favour of the senior officer. According to the sources, law secretary B.G. Hareendranath has given a report to the government that there was little scope in filing a review petition against the SC order to reinstate Mr Senkumar. Hence, the government may issue orders reinstating Mr Senkumar at the earliest.
Meanwhile, sources said that Mr Senkumar was also contemplating the options of moving a contempt petition. He is also likely to give a certified copy of the order to government. “The government seems to be delaying the execution of the SC order indefinitely with the hidden motive of minimising the service of Mr Senkumar, who is due to retire from service on June 30. However, if Mr Senkumar moves court citing this, it may even result in the court directing extension of service to Mr Senkumar. Already during arguments, Mr Senkumar's counsel made such a plea during the arguments at the SC earlier," sources said.
Sources added that the government was also exploring the option of filing a clarification petition in the SC seeking certain clarifications on the order. However, it may also invite the wrath of the court.
