Thrissur: The first death anniversary of Jishnu Pranoy, who was student of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre in Pampady, here will be observed on January 5. According to the friends of Jishnu, who was a first year B Tech student of the college, Jishnu Pranoy’s father Ashokan, mother Mahija and uncle Sreejtih will be attending the death anniversary functions at Pambady on the same day.
Jishnu was found hanging in the bathroom of his hostel room on the evening of January 6, 2017. While the college authorities claim that he was caught copying during the exam and that led to him committing suicide, his family members and friends allege that college authorities had put a false blame on him after seizing his answer paper. They also allege that Jishu was brutally beaten up inside the ‘torture room’ of the college and that led to his death.
Another student, Shaheer Shaukat Ali, who was allegedly beaten up by the college managing trustee P Krishnadas, on January 3, two days before Jishu’s death, will also be attending the event at Pambady. In both Jishu and Shaheer Shaukat Ali case all the accused are out on bail and Jishnu case was recently handed over to CBI as per SC order.
Krishnadas, former vice-principal of the college N.K. Sakthivel, PRO Sanjith Viswanath and two other male teachers of the college are the accused in Jisnhu Case. Mr Krishnadas has also been made the accused in the Shaheer Shaukat Ali assault case. SC had banned Krishnadas from entering Kerala considering the possibilities of influencing the witnesses in Jishnu case.
