Kotturu Nagara Vanam To Be Thrown Open for Public Soon

Tirupati: The Forest department has expedited work on the much-anticipated Nagara Vanam in Kotturu on the outskirts of Nellore. According to agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who inspected the site on Sunday, the urban forest is now 90 percent complete and will be open to the public in the coming weeks.

Spread over 145 hectares abutting the Kotturu area, the urban forest aims to provide local residents a green recreational space close to home. It will feature a walking track, restaurant, children’s park, musical fountain, open theatre and more amid lush greenery and diverse flora.

The minister said the urban forest has been planted with many native species that will help conserve biodiversity and absorb atmospheric pollutants. “Having numerous trees, this urban forest will also have a playground, yoga centre, open gym, shuttle court, yoga centre, walking track, view point, musical fountain, open theatre and other facilities for recreation and physical fitness,” Kakani said.

The project will not just provide leisure options but also enhance the environment and combat pollution in Nellore city. Families will be able to spend quality time enjoying the facilities and natural beauty of urban forest, Kakani said. He praised the efforts of forest officials led by DFO Srinivasulu to develop the Nagara Vanam through their diligent work. He advised them to arrange for attractions like a toy train, zip line, waterfalls and ropeway to the view point.
