Sasthramela: Palakkad wins yet again

Palakkad scored 46,586 points, followed by the Malappuram and Kozhikode districts with 46,359 and 46, 352 points respectively.

KOZHIKODE: For the second consecutive year, Palakkad emerged as the overall champions in the Kerala School Science, Maths, Social Science and IT fair (Sasthramela) 2017- 18 that concluded here on Sunday at Malabar Christian College Campus Higher Secondary School. Billed as one of the largest school fairs in Asia, it witnessed competitions involving more than 7,000 students from schools across the state. Palakkad scored 46,586 points, followed by the Malappuram and Kozhikode districts with 46,359 and 46, 352 points respectively.

Ernakulam stood forts in the science fair with 166 points followed by Kannur (165) and Palakkad (164). In maths fair, Kannur emerged as the overall champions with 349 points followed by Kozhikode (310) and Malappuram (300). In the social science fair the first position went to two districts- Kasargod and Thiruvananthapuram with 179 points each, followed by Thrissur with 176 points and Kannur with 169 points. When the IT fair results were announced, Kannur district emerged as the topper with 113 points, Malappuram bagged the second position with 110 points, followed by Kozhikode with 108 points.

In the Upper Primary category of work experience, Palakkad emerged as the overall champions with 11531 points while Malappuram bagged the title with 16, 498 points in the High School category and Kozhikode in Higher Secondary School category with 16, 432 points. There was a separate category for the visually impaired and deaf students. Assisi School for the blind, Kanjirapally came first scoring maximum points in work experience, followed by School for Blind, Aluva, and HKCMM Blind School, Kottappuram, Palakkad.
