YSRC MP unhappy over non-allotment of land for freedom fighter memorial

Vijayawada: Machilipatnam YSRC MP, Vallabhaneni Balashowry, has urged bankers to facilitate loans for eligible tenant farmers, young entrepreneurs, unemployed youth and handicrafts people to gain self-employment.

He conducted the Krishna district development coordination and monitoring committee (DISHA) meeting at the Zilla Parishad Meeting Hall in Machilipatnam on Thursday.

Krishna ZP chairperson Uppala Harika, district collector Raja Babu and others attended the meeting. The main topic of discussion was the progress of the development works funded by the central government.

MP Balashowry enquired with the bankers about the steps being taken to provide loans to various government schemes. He expressed his unhappiness over non-allotment of land to construct the freedom fighter Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramaiah Memorial Bhavan in Machilipatnam.

Bhogaraju hails from Machilipatnam and he provided employment to scores of youths by starting the Andhra Bank, he said.

The Machilipatnam municipal corporation should take appropriate steps to allot land for constructing the bhavan, he told Machilipatnam municipal commissioner Chandraiah.

MP Balashowry said the bankers gave many reasons for not giving loans to the tenant farmers and Crop Cultivator Right Card (CCRC) holders. “However, they are not reasonable. Bankers must sanction loans and encourage them to ensure cultivation,” he said.

Bankers could cooperate to construct a meeting hall in Machilipatnam with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for conducting review meetings, he said.

Later, Power Grid Corporation officials signed an agreement with Krishna collector Raja Babu for launch of drinking water schemes and filter beds under the CSR scheme with '4.15 crore. Both the officials exchanged the MoU papers in the presence of MP Balashowry.

Pamarru MLA Kaile Anil, joint collector Aparajitha Singh, ZP CEO Jyothibasu and others participated in this meeting.
