Jagan clears lift scheme for Anantapur's Putlur mandal

The CM's order follows representation made by Singanamala MLA J. Padmavathi

ANANTAPUR: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday ordered officials to conduct a survey for implementing the first phase of long-pending lift irrigation scheme for supplying irrigation and drinking water to Putlur mandal from Gandikota Reservoir in Kadapa district.

The CM’s order follows representation made in this regard by Singanamala MLA J. Padmavathi and A.P. School Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission CEO Aluri Samba Shiva Reddy.

Gandikota Reservoir gets surplus water from Galeru Nagari Sujala Shravanthi main canal. With Putlur mandal, which falls within the Singanamala assembly constituency, also getting water from Gandikota, it will help improve groundwater levels in drought-hit villages of Putlur mandal.

Padmavathi and Samba Shiva Reddy have expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister for sanctioning the lift irrigation project. According to estimates, the survey for preparing a detailed project report for the first phase is estimated to cost about Rs 80 lakh.
