HYDERABAD: The Rachakonda police is advising people to use Hawk Eye app while hiring house helps to check if they have a criminal background. The advisory was issued by Rachakonda police chief Mahesh Bhagwat following the arrest of a Nepali gang involved in a robbery and attempt to murder case and from whom stolen property worth Rs 7 lakh was recovered on Monday.
Speaking to this correspondent, Bhagwat said that Hawk Eye app has an option to ‘register with police’, wherein one can submit details of their house-help to know their background.
“We can help the citizens by providing the criminal history of the individual. We also request the public to install CC cameras and to keep their valuables in a safe,” he said.
Rachakonda police arrested Maya, Rajesh Chabilal Soni, Hemprasad, Nirmal Saud, and Visna Sunar following a complaint from Pradeep Kumar, a resident of HMT Nagar in Nacharam, who claimed that his servants had stolen 18 tolas of gold, 40 tolas of silver, and Rs 10 lakh cash from his home on October 19.
“Kumar had appointed Arjun Bahadur and Maya as domestic help about two weeks ago. On October 19, his wife and daughter went to Medak while he and his son were at work, leaving his 70-year-old mother at home. When he returned home that night, his mother was found unconscious and all cupboards and lockers broken open and the servants nowhere in sight,” said police.
They explained that according to their plan, Arjun and Maya settled in the house and gained the confidence of the house-owner. In the meantime, Arjun arranged for Lorazepam sleeping pills from Rajesh and Hemprasad. On October 19, the gang robbed the house and fled to Lucknow. Arjun met Rajesh, Nirmal, Hemprasad, and Visna before boarding a bus and divided the money amongst them. Meanwhile, Rajesh and others stayed in Hyderabad to commit further offences, said the police.
“On October 22, a team from Rachakonda police apprehended Maya at Awadh bus stand in Lucknow while she was boarding a bus to Nepal and seized gold ornaments and cash from her. Later, she was produced at a local court and brought to Hyderabad on transit remand. Based on her confessions, the police apprehended four more accused from West Marredpally on Sunday,” added the official.
The Rachakonda police formed 15 teams, consisting 45 officers, who were sent to Mumbai, Pune, Jhansi, Lucknow, and Nepal borders. The arrested persons were produced before the judge on Monday....
