A K Antony slams posh places of worship

He also said that the Pinarayi Vijayan Government's anti-BJP stand was mere pretension.

Kochi: Senior Congress leader A. K. Antony on Thursday said that the trend of building places of worship with air-conditioning facility by spending crores of rupees should be discouraged. Inaugurating the 14th edition of the Vidyaposhanam Nutrition Project at Darul Uloom School at Pulleppady here, Antony said that those controlling places of worship should channel more money for charity works. He also said that there is no minority-majority difference when it comes to refurbishing places of worship spending lavishly. He also asked the rich in the country to emulate the NRKs in supporting the poor in the country. They should also join the initiatives of the State and Central Governments.

He said that the works of Vidyadhanam Trust to give food to 50,000 children in 164 schools this year under the aegis of K V Thomas MP was noteworthy. Mayor Soumini Jain and Hibi Eden MLA also attended. Speaking to mediapersons Mr Antony said that it was not proper on the part of the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to delay action against Minister Thomas Chandy despite an adverse report by the District Collector.

He also said that the Pinarayi Vijayan Government’s anti-BJP stand was mere pretension. “While the words are against BJP, the actions are favouring BJP,” he said. Antony also alleged that CPM was trying to destroy Congress and a formidable section of CPM was trying to foist BJP as the chief opposition. He also said that the disputes over KPCC list will be sorted out soon.
