Monsoon is late, but near

Chennai: Much-anticipated northeast monsoon, which brings the bulk of rainfall to Tamil Nadu and other southern states, is likely to set in by Sunday, the IMD said on Wednesday.

“As per our earlier predictions, the NE monsoon will commence around the end of October and the recent prediction is that nearly 90-100 per cent will be a normal rainfall,” said S. Balachandran, director, Regional Meteorological Centre, TN.
