Telangana: Many doctors among new cops
Hyderabad: One hundred and nine IPS probationers, including 26 women, will pass out from the National Police Academy Hyderabad after the conclusion of their training.
A majority of them are engineering graduates while a few are doctors and MBA degree-holders. The batch also had 15 foreign officers — six from Royal Bhutan Police, five from Nepal Police and four from Maldives.
Union finance minister Arun Jaitley will be the chief guest at the passing out parade scheduled on October 28.
NPA director Aruna Bahuguna said, “This year’s training was different from previous years with the probationers getting more field exposure. They were deployed during the Tamil Nadu elections, Kumbh Mela in Ujjain for crowd management, and at the Ganesh festival here..”
“They studied the functioning of the Command and Control Traffic Centre at Bengaluru. They were given intensive training of both jungle and urban tactics. They also worked at the model police station in NPA to gain a feel of the atmosphere,” she said.
