Kottayam: Stray dogs killed, hung at public place

The dogs were killed alleging that minister Maneka Gandhi was showing a lax attitude towards the issue.

Kottayam: The Youth Front (M) on Monday killed ten stray dogs in the town and hung them near the municipal office, alleging failure of the civic bodies in ending the menace. Around ten stray dogs, which were wandering around the town were caught and killed by the activists. The municipal authorities later took away the dogs and buried them.

Youth Front (M) president Saji Manjakadambil said they killed the strays since dogs were everywhere in the town and alleged that the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi was showing negative attitude towards the stray dog issue in the state. The Kottayam West police have registered a case against 15 activists on charges of showing cruelty towards animals.
