Kerala Cong's youth wing kills 5 stray dogs, hangs them from pole in protest

They threatened to continue such protests if the central and the state government do not control the stray dog menace.

Kottayam: Some members of Kerala Congress' (M) youth wing on Monday protested against the menace of stray dogs in the state in a manner that can be stated brutal – they killed five stray canines, hung them by their legs from a pole and held a march with it.

According to a report in NDTV, the members of the youth wing dumped the dead dogs in a pile outside a post office near the municipal buildings in the Kottayam district when their march was over. They also threatened to continue such protests if the government does not take any action.

"We have killed these dogs. And it's a warning that this will continue if the central and the state government do not control the stray dog menace," said Saji Manjakadambil, who was heading the protest.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier said, in a Facebook post, that stray dogs would not be illegally killed in the state. However, no action has been taken as yet against those who claimed to have killed the five dogs.
