Farmers from 25 states on Telangana tour to study agri policies

They hailed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as ‘Rythu Bandhava’ for introducing various schemes for the benefit of farming community

HYDERABAD: Nearly 100 farmers from 25 states arrived here on Friday to examine the policies being implemented by the state government for farmers, such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, 24x7 free power to agriculture.

They hailed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as ‘Rythu Bandhava’ for introducing these schemes and said they would demand their respective governments to replicate these schemes.

Speaking to the media, farmers' association leaders said Telangana farmers were doing farming activity as a profitable profession and they wanted to learn from the experience.

A farmer leader from Uttar Pradesh, Himansh, said the Chief Minister extending Rs 10,000 per acre Rythu Bandhu assistance and Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage to farmers families was revolutionary. He commended the CM for providing financial assistance to the families of farmers who sacrificed their lives during the year-long agitation against the Centre's farm laws. The leaders praised the Chief Minister as the ‘best friend of farmers' of the entire country.

They started a field trip to various districts to study the development of agriculture and irrigation sectors in Telangana.

A media statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said the Telangana agriculture sector was considered as a loss-making profession earlier in the combined state of Andhra Pradesh, but now emerged as a profitable profession in a short time under Chandrashekar Rao. In this context, the demand to replicate the Telangana government’s welfare schemes in the farm and allied sectors was growing in other states.

Farming communities across the world were looking at Telangana state, the press release said adding that the policies including Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima which gave provided to farmer families, assured them 24-hour quality free power and abundant irrigation water for two crops.
