Graduation ceremony at Ernakulam Government Medical College today
KOCHI: The graduation ceremony of 2010 batch MBBS students of Ernakulam Government Medical College (EMC) will be held on the college campus at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be the guest of honour on the occasion and college principal Dr V.K. Sreekala and faculty of the medical college will attend the function. The event is titled ‘Prayuktha.’ The students, staff and people of Kalamassery are looking forward to the first visit of Mr Pinarayi Vijayan as chief minister to the campus with a slew of development projects of the college pending.
The college got a fillip the other day with Anglo-Indian MLA John Fernandez contributing his entire Asset Development Fund of Rs 5 crore for the EMC. The principal said that this will be used for purchasing CT and MRI scanners in the college, which will offer scans at the rate at the General Hospital, Ernakulam, at Rs 750 and Rs 1,800 respectively against Rs 2,500 and Rs 8,000 respectively in the private sector. Another Rs 1 crore will be needed to set up the building for them which could be sourced from CSR funds.
