Investment meet for 3 Malabar districts
KOZHIKODE: The Kannur-based North Malabar Chamber of Commerce (NMCC) will be conducting an investment meet to promote investments and projects with a focus on three districts of Malabar—Kannur, Wayanad and Kasargod. The meet will be held at Marriott hotel in Kochi on August 6 with the participation of more than 30 top biz men.
“The aim is to attract investments and motivate entrepreneurs to set up businesses in the wake of the Kannur international airport becoming operational shortly accompanied by the surge in other spheres,” said Sachin Suryakant, NMCC secretary. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event in the presence of ministers E.P Jayarajan, Kadannapalli Ramachandran, K.K Shylaja and A.C Moideen. Industrialists including M A Yusuffali, Ravi Pillai, Ajith Balakrishnan, Dr Shamsheer, domestic and global stakeholders and representatives from various global corporations are expected to participate in the event.
The focus sectors for the event are health, tourism, education, agriculture and food processing and technology. Presentations on these sectors will be delivered by government departments followed by interactive sessions. Each district had been identified with key areas such as tourism for Wayanad, Education for Kasargod and Health for Kannur, says Mr Suryakant.
“North Malabar would be branded globally by showcasing the strength and potential of the destination,” NMCC secretary elaborated. The chamber is expecting full backing from the state government as the North Malabar region has a strong presence in the current regime.
