Bengaluru: Poor patients opt to stay on in hospital due to bus strike

Several were seen requesting doctors to allow them to stay on in hospital till the bus strike was withdrawn.

Bengaluru: Many poor patients admitted to government hospitals in the city like Victoria and KC General put off being discharged as they could not afford either autos or ambulances to get home.

Several were seen requesting doctors to allow them to stay on in hospital till the bus strike was withdrawn.Several of the passengers, who managed to get on Bus 347 C running between Majestic and Shanthinagar, which was the first to resume service in the city on Tuesday, said they had been waiting at the terminus for the last two days as auto drivers and private bus conductors were demanding huge fares.

"We had no choice but to stay put at the bus stand," said a construction labourer, Rudranna Mulimani from Bagalkot.
