WARANGAL: Fighting against odds such as "harassment" from ruling BRS party’s Station Ghanpur MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah, the Janakipuram village BRS Sarpanch Kursapalli Navya says neither chief minister KCR nor IT Minister Rama Rao sought to know what was happening against her.
The woman sarpanch faced several odds in her life. She faced a situation of ‘cheating’ that involved her husband, received life-threat calls from unknown persons and experienced mental torture from the other public representatives, but she stood her ground. The worst was when the MLA mentally harassed her over a loan that her husband took from him and did not repay.
Navya had a minor go at English medium education but was not much educated. She can speak three languages -- Telugu, English and Hindi. She was leading the happy life of a house-wife looking after her husband and two children -- son and daughter --until she became a village sarpanch with encouragement from her family members.
Locals say that right from the time Navya was elected as sarpanch for the Janakipuram village, she kept herself busy with the developmental works of the village along with managing her home. Her life suddenly took a new turn as she landed in a controversy in relation to the loan her husband has taken from the MLA.
The ruling BRS party’s Station Ghanpur MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah behaved in an allegedly rough manner with her.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Navya expressed unhappiness with the BRS party leadership. She said neither the chief minister nor the IT minister nor the senior leader Kadiyam Srihari got in touch with her or enquired about the complaint from her against the MLA.
“When there is no security to woman public representative of the BRS party, then what will be the situation of other women in the society,” she asked.
Navya said that it was without her knowledge that her husband Praveen took some money from the MLA. On the directions given by the MLA, Praveen tried to exert pressure on her to sign on the bond papers, as if she was taking a loan from the MLA. When she refused to sign it, her husband accepted his mistake.
The police officials are not filing a case against MLA Rajaiah and other persons against whom I lodged a complaint of harassment. I had submitted the evidence of my call records in the complaint against the MLA and his PA Srinivas, she said.
“I also gave the phone numbers to the police officials, as to from whom I was receiving life- threat calls, but the police are least interested to trace the numbers and nab the persons,” she said.
Navya demanded an open apology from MLA Rajaiah and a promise that he would not create any hurdles in the development works of the village.
