Hyderabad: A car driver hailing from Saroornagar was arrested by the Chaitanyapuri police for allegedly harassing a minor girl and kidnapping her.
According to the Chaitanyapuri police, the accused, identified as Pallapu Kondalu, 22, a resident of Karmanghat in Saroornagar, and native of Nalgonda district, had for the past two months been following a girl, 17, on her way to college and on her way back home.
He kept telling her he was in love with her and expected her to reciprocate, the police said, citing the complaint.
On June 20, as the girl walked out of college, Kondalu allegedly kidnapped her in his car. Later in the day, he dropped her in an area close to her house.
Based on a complaint filed by her parents, a case was booked against the accused under Sections 11 (IV) (VI) read with 12 and 17 of the Protection of Ch-ildren from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and under sections 366 and 354 of the IPC. He was arrested on Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody, the police said.
