CPI to pay green tribute to leaders

Meanwhile the party decided to organise branch conferences from July.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state executive on Friday decided to observe the World Environment Day on June 5 in a big scale across the state. Each party member would plant at least one sapling near their house. Saplings will be planted in the name of late leaders’ and prominent people in each area. It was the CPI which gave top priority to environment protection. The party Congress at Kolkata had included environment protection in the political resolution adopted at the meet, the executive pointed out.

Meanwhile the party decided to organise branch conferences from July. The Party Congress is expected to be held in Kerala this time. The meeting held at M N Smarakam was presided over by C N Jayadevan MP . Sate secretary Kanam Rajendran, central secretariat member Pannyan Raveendran, national executive member Benoy Viswam and state assistant secretary Prakash Babu attended the meet. The LDF on Friday organised a public meeting at Putharikandam maidan to commemorate the first anniversary of the government.

At the meeting chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called upon the people to oppose the fascist agenda of the BJP government like ban on cattle slaughter. He said the government would go ahead with its development agenda and ensure peoples participation in the implementation of the four mission announced earlier. The LDF leaders said the government was committed to the welfare of the people. Earlier, CPM state secretariat met at AKG Centre and reviewed the political situation in the state.
