Cochin Port Trust official, wife chargesheeted in disproportionate assets case

The case was registered following a tip-off on June 30, 2015.

Kochi: The CBI has filed a charge-sheet against deputy material manager with the Cochin Port Trust and his wife over amassing of wealth disproportionate to known sources of income. The charge-sheet was filed against K. V. Nageesh and his wife Rashmi Nageesh, natives of Tumkur district in Karnataka, currently staying at Maradu in Kochi. It says Nageesh amassed a wealth of Rs 4,693,333 in excess to known sources of income during September 2006-September 2013. The case was registered following a tip-off on June 30, 2015.

The CBI investigation revealed that Nageesh owned 14 immovable properties in which 13 were acquired while one was inherited. The land was purchased in the name of his wife and brother in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The CBI during the search conducted at the residence of the accused in Maradu seized several documents related to assets he acquired. While the investigation officer was preparing the seizure record, an attempt was made to destroy the seized documents.
