Bengaluru: Green corridor from BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital to HAL airport

The organ belonged to a 50-year-old woman, who was declared brain dead at BGS Gleneagles here on Tuesday.

Bengaluru: A heart was transported, through a green corridor, from BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Kengeri to HAL Airport in 31 minutes on Tuesday night. It was then moved on to a chartered flight to Chennai for a transplant slated to take place at Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai.

The organ belonged to a 50-year-old woman, who was declared brain dead at BGS Gleneagles here on Tuesday. She was admitted at the hospital with a brain stem bleed on April 23.

Her family consented for organ donation, thereby benefitting the lives of patients in Bengaluru and Chennai. The lungs were sent to Narayana Health, cornea to Narayana Nethralaya and skin to the skin bank at Victoria Hospital. The kidneys aided two patients, one at Aster CMI and the other one at BGS Gleneagles itself.
