Hyderabad: Speaking of the unexpected cloudy skies and rain, IMD assistant meteorologist M. Narsimha Rao said, “The sudden change in weather conditions is due to the upper air trough from Chhattisgarh to the Comorin area (south of Tamil Nadu ); AP too witnessed rains in isolated areas.
Thunderstorms are a summer phenomena. Development of cumulonimbus clouds on Tuesday afternoon led to the sudden rains, the effect of cloud formation in noon hours was seen in the evening. Along with rainfall, lightening, thunder and heavy breeze too were witnessed.
“Currently the flow of winds is from a southerly direction, these are moist winds,” Rao added.
Though Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 40.2ºC on Tuesday, the cloudy skies through the day and rain in the evening abated the heat somewhat.
The temperature dropped down to 27ºC on Tuesday evening from the usual 31 – 32ºC of the last couple of days.
