Hyderabad: Egyptian mummy in good shape
Hyderabad: The famous Egyptian mummy ‘Nasihu’, dating back to 2,500 BC underwent a thorough medical examination and was found to be in good condition.
The scan revealed that the mummy was of a woman of about 25 years and not 16-18 years as was originally believed, with a height of 136 cm.
There had been reports that the mummy in Hyderabad, which is among the six in the country, was decaying and needed urgent chemical and other treatment.
“The mummy underwent a thorough medical examination and chemical treatment. Doctors certified its condition as good. It has been brought back to the museum for visitors,” said tourism secretary Mr B. Venkatesam. Director of archaeology and museums, Mr N.R. Visalatchy, assistant director Dr Ramulu Naik and others were present.
