Govt keen to conduct all cancelled TSPSC exams within four months

HYDERABAD: The state government is keen to conduct all TSPSC recruitment exams that were cancelled following leakage of question papers within four months.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is learnt to have issued instructions to TSPSC secretary Anita Ramachandran to this effect. He asked the commission officials to make arrangements for the smooth conduct of exams.

Meanwhile, ruling party legislators are launching coaching centres in their constituencies which will also provide free food and study material. With the BRS government coming under fire from students and unemployed youth following the question papers leak, these measures are aimed at pacifying them.

TSPSC officials reportedly informed Rao that it would take at least two months to prepare a new set of question papers.

TSPSC has cancelled Group-I Prelims, assistant executive engineers, divisional accounts officer (Works) Grade-II and assistant engineer (civil) exams.
Rao is reportedly in favour of holding TSPSC exams after the conclusion of common entrance tests (CETs) in May and June as otherwise availability of exam centres, deployment of police and examination staff would be a problem.
As CETs are scheduled for May and June, the government is keen on conducting TSPSC exams in July and August. When the issue of heavy rains during these months cropped up, it was felt that depending on the situation the exams could be postponed to a future date. In any case, the government wants to hold TSPSC exams by August or September since the Assembly elections schedule is expected by October.

Around 50 ruling party MLAs, who had opened free coaching centres in April- May last year, had closed them in December on completion of training. The centres will be reopened now.

Party working president K.T. Rama Rao had asked party MLAs to open as many free coaching centres as possible so that it could benefit students, who cannot afford fees in private coaching centres.
