JNU students are not anti-national: Shehla Rashid Shora
KOZHIKODE: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) union vice-president Shehla Rashi Shora has said no country or people can freely live under armed threat.
“The JNU students are not anti-nationals. But we regard hanging as a big blow on humanity, be it Afsal Guru or Nathuram Vinayak Godse,” she declared while speaking at the ‘Prathirodha Vasanthangalude Kanalkoottam’, an “anti-fascist” programme organised by Redstar Meppayur on Saturday.
“Narendra Modi and BJP are trying to make our country homogenic. India survives on its dazzling diversity and umpteen cultures. We are against anyone deciding on our food, dress or any sort of rights. It is our collective duty to combat the ‘Vegetarian Indian’ being propagated by Sangh Parivar,” she said.
The firebrand student leader from Kashmir lauded Keralites for resisting BJP.
All India Students’ Association (AISA) president and former union president of JNU, Sucheta De, Ajayan Adat, Shimi J.K. (Pune film institute), Smitha. N (Hyderabad University) and K. Dinu (Farook College student) and others spoke.
A. Subhash Kumar presided over over the programme which was followed by musical fusion by Santhosh Karayad, Ajith Valoor and Sujith V.K.
