Hyderabad: In order to shield animals from the heat during the upcoming summer, officials at the Nehru Zoological Park in the city have installed sprinklers, foggers and coolers inside the animals’ enclosures. They will also be given vitamin supplements, said zoo curator S. Rajashekar.

Saucer feeders will also be placed for the large number of birds and other animals that reside outside the enclosures within the zoo premises. Rajashekar said preparations to brace the heat would be completed before the second week of March. Special focus will be on animals which are not habituated to hot conditions.
