Tableaux turn into feast for eyes at Republic Day celebrations
VIJAYAWADA: Colourful tableaus were a feast to the eyes at the 74th Republic Day celebrations held on Thursday at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here.
State Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan unfurled the national flag. He as also chief minister Jagan Reddy, higher officials, students, women, and a large throng viewed the attractive tableaus on the parade.
As many as 13 decorative tableaus of government departments showcased the various welfare and development schemes implemented by the state government.
The housing department tableau received the first prize, the school education department (digital education teaching) the second prize, and the village and ward secretariat department the third prize from Governor Harichandan.
After the Republic Day celebrations, all the tableaus rolled onto the roads one by one from the IGMC Stadium to Benz Circle, passing through Nirmala Convent Junction, Ramavarappadu Circle, Gunadala, Chutchugunta, Governorpet, etc., and returned to the stadium from the old bus stand via Raghavaiah Park.
The tableaus were of the Village/Ward Secretariat Department, Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, School Education, Social Welfare, Medical and Health and Family Welfare, Housing, Mission for Eradication of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), Industries and Forest departments.
